Independent Credit Research (‘ICR’) is a London-based consultancy that was founded in 2003 by Jonathan Golin, a bank analyst
and former vice-president at a leading specialist bank rating agency. Formally established as Independent Financial Research Services, Ltd., a private limited company registered in England and Wales (registration
number 4657227), the consultancy previously operated under the name, Independent Company Research, which it changed in 2008 to reflect its strong credit focus.
ICR’s mission is to provide first-rate independent consultative research and training services concerning credit risk, credit
risk management and the credit markets. ICR specializes in counterparty credit risk analysis (i.e. primarily arising from exposures to banking institutions) and in related research concerning the banking industry,
Basel II, bank credit ratings, and covered bonds (a type of mortgage finance widely used in Europe).
Mr Golin is the firm’s managing director and sole shareholder. A graduate of the University of California at Berkeley (A.B.,
1979) and the Harvard Law School (J.D., 1982), Mr Golin is the author of a number of professional publications, including The Bank Credit Analysis Handbook: A Guide for Analysts, Bankers & Investors, (John Wiley
& Sons, Ltd., 2001 - revision due 2008) and Covered Bonds and Pfandbriefe: Innovations, Investment and Structured Alternatives (Euromoney Books, 2006). More information on his background is provided on his CV,
